We have a new boat for the 2023 Pacific Challenge, and she needs a name. Get back on the row with us, Team Antigua Island Girls, by entering our boat-naming contest. The winner gets their name on the boat in which we will row across the Pacific Ocean in June, in the boosters’ section, and Team Antigua Island Girls merch. Team Antigua Island Girls Boat-naming Contest

 

ENTRY PERIOD

The entry period is from January 5 to 11:59 PM (EST) on January 19, 2023

 

RULES

Submissions must be a female name or non-descript; must be original; must not be identical, actually or phonetically, to any word used to solicit assistance at sea; must not be indecent or profane.

Keep it short—one or two words are ideal; no more than three; keep the overall number of characters to 33 and under.

Submissions are limited to one per person.

Every participant must be willing to have their name and image used on TAIG platforms.

The winner must agree to have their name and image used on TAIG platforms. The winner, if resident in Antigua, must attend the Boat-naming Ceremony.

By submitting an entry, the participant agrees that they grant to TAIG the perpetual and unlimited right to use the entry as well as name, location, likeness and statements accompanying the entry without compensation.

 

PRIZES

The prize is the winner’s name emblazoned on the boat, in the Boosters’ Section. This has a value of USD $750.00. The winner may not request a cash prize in exchange for their name on the boat. If the winner wishes to place someone else’s name on the boat, they may do so with the following proviso. If the individual is a minor under the legal care of the winner, they may substitute the name. If the winner wishes to use the name of an adult, they must present written authorization from the person consenting to the use of their name. The winner will also receive TAIG merchandise.

 

ELIGIBILITY

All entrants must be 12 years and older. Entrants under 16 must have the permission of their parents/guardians. The agents, immediate family members and individuals living in the same household as TAIG crewmembers are not eligible to enter. For the purposes of this contest, family member means a spouse, sibling, child, mother/father/sister/brother-in-law, adopted siblings and/or children.

 

LIABILITY 

You agree that TAIG and its agents, their successors and assigns and all their respective volunteers and all their advertising and promotion agencies (“Released Parties”), will have no liability whatsoever in connection with this Contest or your entry, and you shall hold them harmless for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind that you or others may incur as a consequence of your participation in the Contest, your entry, or your acceptance of the prize. By entering the Contest, you explicitly release, discharge and holds harmless the Released Parties from any and all liability, actions, causes of action, damages, actual, incidental or consequential, claims and demands whatsoever in law or equity, including attorneys’ fees and/or experts fees and costs, which you now have or may acquire arising out of your participation in the Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, undelivered, or garbled entries; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of entries, the announcement of the winner, or the incorrect uploading of the entries or in any Contest-related materials.

 

ENTRANT OBLIGATIONS

By submitting an entry, entrants represent and warrant that they own the entry or otherwise have the right to submit it for the Contest, and that the entry does not infringe upon any third party’s intellectual property right, violate any third party’s right of privacy or publicity or otherwise infringe upon any third party’s other personal or property rights. By entering, entrants agree to defend, indemnify, release and hold harmless TAIG and its agents from and against any and all losses, demands, damages, rights, claims, injuries, actions and liabilities of any kind arising out of or related to the entry or TAIG’s use thereof.
